Inspired by Bono's Reminder -- God is with the poor.

Bono in Uganda.

“If you remove the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness, and if you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light will rise in the darkness and your gloom will become like midday and the Lord will continually guide you and satisfy your desire in scorched places” Isaiah 58:9-11

Inspired. U2's Bono reminded me Friday that God is always with the poor, and vulnerable. And this is where we should be too. I came across a speech Bono gave at a 2006 prayer breakfast to call others to action to help Africa, and those living with hunger and AIDs. He quoted Isaiah 58:9-11. It's haunted me all weekend.

Of course, then I started listening to all my old U2 albums. Here are some lyrics from U2's "One." Also, here is a YouTube video of Bono performing One. Hope you're inspired too.

One love. One blood. One life you get to do what you should. One life with each other. Sisters. Brothers. One life but we're not the same. We get to carry each other. Carry each other. One life. One.

  1. Just found your blog. The speech Bono gave at the prayer breakfast was one of the first things that we read at the beginning of our adoption journey too. Cannot wait to follow along with you all!
