So books I'm suppose to be reading....
1. The Connected Child by Karyn Purvis, David Cross, and Wendy Sunshine
2. Black Baby White Hands by Jaiya John
3. Adoption is a Family Affair by Patricia Irwin Johnston
4. Toddler Adoption by Mary Hopkins-Best
5. In Their Own Voices by Rita Simon
6. Adopted for Life by Russell Moore
7. War & Peace -- Wait where did that one come from??! Oh yea, thanks lovely book club buddies (you know who you are!) Good lite and fluffy pick this time! Actually I'm excited to finally get this fat baby off my list!
Coolest cover award definitely goes to 'Black Baby White Hands!' Jury is still out on content...
Any other recommendations all you parents out there??
Loved Black Baby White Hands. One of my favorite reads as an adoptive mom. Certainly gave me much to mull over with my Ethiopian son but also my domestic/Caucasian daughter we adopted...and even my bio daughter. I appreciated the author's emphasis on learning your child's song, THEIR song, their calling as opposed to putting our own expectations on our children. Plus the issue of race is huge...hence why so many people claim it not to be an issue. Can't wait to hear what you think about it!
